In the Coastal Bend, we have a healthy and sustainable environment and a good quality of life. Our natural resources have served this region for generations, fueling business, commerce, recreation and life, and we will continue to protect them while we position the region for the future.
Our air quality is good. According to the Coastal Bend Air Quality Partnership, the Corpus Christi air shed has maintained ozone standards for the past 20 years. Our water quality is good. According to the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Harte Research Institute Texas Coast Report Card, water nutrients and bacteria scores are generally good and aligned with scores for the entirety of the Texas Coast.
In addition, all options are being explored to ensure the region will have reliable water resources for residential, commercial and industrial use, for generations to come. Environmental stewardship and industrial growth are not mutually exclusive. The region has proven that we CAN grow for the future and protect what’s ours.
-
Tax incentives for business have historically been a powerful way to attract new investment to the region, and in turn create new jobs and tax revenue for our communities. Incentivizing business investments in the Coastal Bend helps our region attract new business and creates a positive environment for existing companies to grow and expand. These incentives, which usually provide some form of tax exemptions for businesses in the early stages and then roll off when their operations steady, generate a return on investment in the form of more quality jobs for residents, more tax dollars for our community, and more dollars poured into our economy across all sectors.
-
Those who run our local governments will make decisions about our economy, infrastructure, education, small and new business, taxes and so much more, which will affect your life, your family and your wallet. They decide if we’re “open for business” or “closed for business.” Specifically, local governments set the tone for business, have control over taxation, zoning and financial regulation, approval authority over many small and large-scale projects, and the ability to reject or accept economic incentives for businesses. We want community members to be energized to go to the polls in this upcoming election and vote for quality jobs, new business and more opportunities. Leaders who support business growth and new investment can ensure the region’s future prosperity.
